February Recap

February Recap

Woo Hoo this is the last monthly recap post tomorrow I’ll have just a regular concise post for you aren’t you excited?

Early in the month I decided to restock our freezer with pancakes. What started as a couple batches of pancakes turned into making 125 pancakes 3 at a time in a pan on the stove I know crazy right? I started with plain, then was asked if I’d make apple, then banana nut, then I went crazy and also made cranberry orange, lemon blueberry and a savory tomato, basil & mozzarella that we had for dinner.

Jack received this new friend also named Jack from the amazing danamarie you can check out her work in both her greenstarstudio and mightMIGHT shops.

We went on a shopping trip to get some new clothes and Rory said he needed these sunglasses.

We played in the rain and painted.

Lexi got a guitar after so many months waiting. Remember this?

After the insanity of making all those pancakes on a pan I splurged and bought a griddle and waffle iron so we tested them out with  strawberries and fresh whipped cream and dinner outside under the moon on the patio.

We had some great family time all together again with the kids really enjoying the pool.

Rory and Finn helped me plant a teeny garden late in the season for Miami but hey better late than never right?

Rory and I went shopping and started gathering supplies for his Rainbow Spectacular Birthday party.

We also got an Xbox and I have really enjoyed watching the kids play Just Dance! By the smiles on their faces I think they like it too!

Getting back in the groove.

Things have been quiet here I know! With the prep getting ready for Artscape then the EARLY flight home and inevitable “artscape hangover” I’ve been quiet. That however doesn’t mean my little wheel of ideas hasn’t been waking me up in the middle of the night like today for instance I’ve been up since 4:30 am because I had a brilliant idea, and yet since about 10:30 all I’ve wanted was a nap! I met some WONDERFUL people at Artscape thanks for sharing your stories with me.

Get yourself ready for a big sale in the next couple weeks as I inventory everything and start getting ready for the fall! Ok who am I kidding you can place orders here and on Etsy with code  lazysummer to get free shipping until July 31!

Freaking out… aka OMG Artscape

Freaking out… aka OMG Artscape

So I’m really freaking out. I have to have the rest of my artscape stuff ready by Monday in order to ship to Baltimore in time. The house is well its been raining all week. I’m nervous about leaving all five kids with my sister from Thursday to Monday. My baby… my not quite a baby has never been by my side for longer than a few hours and has never slept away from me for an entire night never mind 1500 miles away. I still have orders to ship. I need to breathe!

In other news I’ll have a few new things I’ll be unveiling at artscape like Natty Boh soap, and my new Miami Mojito Lip Balm among others.  Stop by booth C07 and check it out with my BEST buddy booth mate Designs by Night

Quilting Adventures… Lexi’s quilt

Quilting Adventures… Lexi’s quilt

Ok so last I updated you on the progress I showed you all the darling little dresses all embroidered up. Well most of the dresses anyway. So the next step in the adventure was to piece together the other blocks that would be surrounding the quilt. But to do that and figure it out I needed a plan. I had been looking at finished quilts on etsy and found a few I liked now to make it work with my dress squares. So I got out some graphing paper and designed a quilt.

Right I know exactly what you are thinking is she insane. and in hindsight I think I was a little. To go from making a quilt to designing a quilt on the fly was a lot, when it got really tricky was when I lost the plan midway through piecing the quilt together and forgot I had taken this very picture which would have saved me SOOOO much time!

So I decided I didn’t want just charm square in most of the blocks I needed to cut them in half and piece 4 of them together.

There you can see pairs of them pieced together. The more I played with them the more I fell in love with the Bliss palate.

Then I sewed the pairs together.

And then I had to sew boarders onto the long sides.

Next I laid everything out according to the drawing which somehow also went missing around this time. I don’t have any pictures of this step somehow.

The last step I had to do was to piece all the blocks & rows together. There was an audible sigh of relief at my house when this was finished. Then off the quilt top went to the lovely Tarabu (her etsy shop)  to be finished up. Hey I know my limitations.

We continued on packing moving unpacking and then one day a package arrived for miss Lexi.

So I ran up to her room with it and made her bed then I stood in the corner to get her picture when she saw it! Notice the excitement on the smidge of Rory you see on the edge.

Then she started petting the squares reminiscing about all the dresses.

There it is on her bed isn’t it AMAZING! Many many thanks to Ann Miller, Gigi, Mom, Tracy & Laura for helping to embroider the dresses,  Tasha for designing the lovely dresses to begin with, Tarabu for the most AMAZING job on finishing the quilt, and most of all Lexi for inspiring the quilt to begin with. I love you and the person you are!

It’s time for – Highlandtown Wine Fest!

It’s time for – Highlandtown Wine Fest!

I have to say this was one of my favorite shows last year! I had a GREAT time, between the wine and the lovely gal in the booth next door. This year its bittersweet for me. Its my only Spring Baltimore City event.

The Highlandtown Wine Festival Committee and Di Pasquale’s Italian Market are gearing up the 8th annual Highlandtown Wine Festival — celebrating the tradition of home winemaking. As usual the event will be held at Our Lady of Pompei Convent Garden on Father Petti Lane (around the corner from Claremont & Conkling Streets). The festival will feature a Homemade Wine Competition, Wine Tastings, a Bocce Tournament, plenty of food and music.

To purchase advanced tickets on-line go to highlandtownwinefestival.eventbrite.com

Now for the fun stuff! Come on by have some wine and check out the wares of my BEST friends.

Back at home where things are simpler we can gaze upon this cute mason jar print from Open Eyes Press

Unwind with a relaxing bath with my very own Relaxing bath salts

Pair that bath with some exfoliation and body oil from Becca and Mars

It’s time for – The Fenton Street Market

It’s time for – The Fenton Street Market

His & Hers Gift Set

For the past couple days I have been having a battle of all battles with wordpress. I’ve trialed 3 different themes. The current one is still not exactly what I want but it does give me the most shopping cart integration so far. I miss some of the blogging features and widgets of other themes but I really needed that shopping cart to work well and this has the best individual product page layout.

This is what I’ve been planning for a few days and was up working on until 2am last night. A giveaway! TWO lucky people will win a free gift set as shown above. Including 2 bars of soap Orion & Artemis, 2 travel size deodorants in Eros & Psyche, a small unscented whipped body butter and Eostra Aromatherapy perfume roll on. All this is a $35 value!  The terms FIRST you must either “Like” Lana Bella on Facebook or join our mailing list scroll down below the icons. If you already are easy peasy for you one less step for you! Lastly you just need to comment on this post! Thats right thats it just tell me you want to win!

Oh one other little bonus is if you want to shop now you can! Just click that little shop now button and it brings you to the shop you can even order multiple items at once without having to ask me about it. A little treat if you use coupon code HISHERS you can take 25% off and the other fun feature is that the shipping weights of products are in the cart so you can pick your shipping in real time!  This code is ONLY applicable here not etsy or artfire!

Have fun and share with your friends.

UPDATE: The contest will run until 11:59 pm PST on 4/30 the kids will pick a winner 5/2 as I will be at a show on 5/1 thanks!

Artscape Baby!

Artscape Baby!

Wow, Wow, Wow! I’m still somewhat in shock with the move never mind that now 6 weeks after we move to Baltimore I’ll be back here in Baltimore for Artscape! I’m very excited to be sharing a space with the lovely Kolleen from Design by Night . So to say the least the next 12 weeks of my life are going to be a whirlwind between prepping for the move and artscape! After July 19 you are sure to find me lounging poolside with my amazing kids for the rest of the summer at least possibly into the fall!

Wowza!

Wowza!

I had great intentions yesterday of getting out a quick eblast but honestly when the heartsy stuff started to hit it slammed into me with the force of a mack truck. This is pretty much the constant view I’ll have over the next few days but after that I have plans BIG BIG plans!

Orders being prepped for shipment.

Btw that table is 44 inches wide by 88 in long (we have a big family and have both leaves in due to our very narrow home we only sit on the ends and put all four kids down one side on a bench).

Even more sneak peeks!

I know things have seemed even more quiet than usual however have no fear I’ve been really hard at work. There will be some more changes coming in the very near future and I hope to let you in on all those secrets soon. For now you can see all the new things I’ve been crafting away for your pleasure!

Sneak Peek!

Sneak Peek!

Remember when I told you a few days ago how hard at work I’ve been. Well here are some pictures that I took today in the FREEZING out side so this is all she took for today! When I can feel my nose again in a couple days maybe there will be a few more! These will be ready and available soon so keep watching!

It's Holiday Time!

WOW. I’ve been preparing for what seems like weeks in preparation for Thanksgiving weekend and the sales and show and still I feel totally behind. I’m so glad I took yesterday to get everything made but our turkey taking time to bake with my kids. Rory pie filling
Today while we spent the holiday relaxed at home in our jammies watching movies and snuggling I had my macbook on my lap most of the day while I updated photos and added about 75 items to the etsy shop. I had wanted to finally finish getting all the items over here to the shop as well but after all day of editing this is about all I have left.  Though I might sneak another piece of  pecan pie but shhh don’t tell ok.

I’m not doing a huge Black Friday Sale because everything has been on sale for about a month now. I will however offer you my faithful readers a coupon code TURKEYHANGOVER for 13% off Lana Bella Etsy Shop thru Monday 11/29

As always if you want more than one of something CONVO me I’ll do my best to answer promptly but it will be a busy weekend!

Wow! I have been overwhelmed lately to say the lest. Things are flying off the shelves both at shows and on Etsy I’ve even had email/phone orders.

Thank you so much for all the support you have shown me this past year as my little business has EXPLODED to say the least. I’m making things as quickly as possible struggling at times to keep up with your demand. I have so many ideas of things I want to share and make for you all and hope to streamline some things to fit it all in.

From my family to yours we thank you.

Squidfire's Art Mart wrap up.

Squidfire's Art Mart wrap up.

HOLY WINDY BATMAN!!! I’m still sore from holding my tent down all day. I felt like i was positioned like a human version of monkey from the barrel holding onto the tent with one hand bagging, making change and assisting customers with the other. The highlights of my day were when nice customers would come in and make their partner or friend hold onto the tent so I could rest my arms. The people I encountered while holding on for dear life were great! I wish it hadn’t been so windy but at least it wasn’t cold as well.

I was looking forward to this show for quite some time to do some shopping of my own and had arranged some trades before hand and I’m so glad I did because with the wind there wasn’t really an opportunity to shop. There were so many vendors I wanted to check out with mother’s day being the next day and my birthday in only nine more days and I promise I’ve been a very good girl this year and am very deserving of little treasures.

Ever since I had gotten my book from Moonlight Bindery back as a holiday gift to myself I’ve wanted a second one. Well I couldn’t decide between my two choices so I got them both aren’t they beautiful!

handbound books for every occasion

Next up I wanted a wallet to go with the new purses I got off etsy a couple months ago. There I was one day killing time on twitter and along comes an etsy listing from See Katie Sew well I wanted one so a convo was made. I also treated myself to a little head band which I love! But the wallet was AWESOME for use at the Farmer’s market on sunday because I can use the key ring to hook it to the spot in my purse intended to hold keys so no worries about dropping it because its attached!

See Katie Sew Wallet and Headband

Last but not least I splurged on yet another little pouch (ask how my husband rolled his eyes at me when he saw) from fellow BEST member JennyJen42. I have no idea yet what purpose it will have but it is so cute I just needed it!

JennyJen42 pouch

Ok there was one other purchase made but it wasn’t for me it was for a little girl’s upcoming 11th birthday however her pink loving little brother found it today as I was unpacking from the show and claimed it for himself. Meet Rory and Grace his newest friend from the celebrity in my children’s eyes Cutesy but not Cutesy

Enjoy!
