In the tradition I started of the year of making each of the kids a quilt the next birthday up was Aidan’s. HIs favorite color is blue I thought this would be super easy to work with. I was not so pleasantly surprised to find that so many blue fabrics are either boring or floral, making a quilt for a would be 13 year old boy florals were OUT.

This was the start of my fabric pull back in January. Not all of those fabrics made it into the final quilt though.
Of course I again forgot to take pictures while I was sewing the blocks together someday I’ll learn from all those quilt bloggers I follow and swoon over.

I layed out all the blocks took multiple pictures to make sure I had everything right. This is the movin on up pattern from Crazy Mom Quilts. Ignore those wrinkly guys at the bottom after I had placed everything I had to feed the kids so I just rolled it all up using the quilt I had put everything on I did re press them before sewing them.

While watching a movie with the kids with my ipad out for photo layout reference sewed those pieces into rows.

Ta da the top aka my part is done now it gets sent off to Tarabu for her to quilt.

I love the in the ditch quilting she did!

This was the BEST surprise! I had send binding and fabric for her to “do something” with the backing and Tarabu went above and beyond and blocked out Aidan’s name.

So I’m really freaking out. I have to have the rest of my artscape stuff ready by Monday in order to ship to Baltimore in time. The house is well its been raining all week. I’m nervous about leaving all five kids with my sister from Thursday to Monday. My baby… my not quite a baby has never been by my side for longer than a few hours and has never slept away from me for an entire night never mind 1500 miles away. I still have orders to ship. I need to breathe!

In other news I’ll have a few new things I’ll be unveiling at artscape like Natty Boh soap, and my new Miami Mojito Lip Balm among others. Stop by booth C07 and check it out with my BEST buddy booth mate Designs by Night

I have to say this was one of my favorite shows last year! I had a GREAT time, between the wine and the lovely gal in the booth next door. This year its bittersweet for me. Its my only Spring Baltimore City event.
The Highlandtown Wine Festival Committee and Di Pasquale’s Italian Market are gearing up the 8th annual Highlandtown Wine Festival — celebrating the tradition of home winemaking. As usual the event will be held at Our Lady of Pompei Convent Garden on Father Petti Lane (around the corner from Claremont & Conkling Streets). The festival will feature a Homemade Wine Competition, Wine Tastings, a Bocce Tournament, plenty of food and music.
To purchase advanced tickets on-line go to highlandtownwinefestival.eventbrite.com
Now for the fun stuff! Come on by have some wine and check out the wares of my BEST friends.

What better for a May Day event than a beautiful fairy crown by Designs by Night

Let's continue our enchanted look with this apple green necklace from Jersey Girl Designs

Of course we will also need to know what time to begin the festivities so we can wear this lovely watch from Atelier Adornments

Back at home where things are simpler we can gaze upon this cute mason jar print from Open Eyes Press

Unwind with a relaxing bath with my very own Relaxing bath salts

Pair that bath with some exfoliation and body oil from Becca and Mars
See you sunday from 1-6 in Highlandtown!

Yes it’s that time of the year again when you can stroll along in Silver Spring from the Farmer’s Market and head across the street get yourself a made to order crepe or a bag of fresh donuts and shop from some of the area’s indie crafters. Yes I will be there on Saturday 4/30 with some of my old & new BEST friends Namoo, Sugar Paperie, Becca and Mars, and Fuzzy Mug.
Here is a sampling of things you might find from each of them! Go ahead and click on their pictures and shop their lovely wares.

Having a boy who has been OBSESSED with orange for as long as I can remember this quilt is so hard to resist.

Sweet little personalized cards would be a great gift for any girl!

Wow, Wow, Wow! I’m still somewhat in shock with the move never mind that now 6 weeks after we move to Baltimore I’ll be back here in Baltimore for Artscape! I’m very excited to be sharing a space with the lovely Kolleen from Design by Night . So to say the least the next 12 weeks of my life are going to be a whirlwind between prepping for the move and artscape! After July 19 you are sure to find me lounging poolside with my amazing kids for the rest of the summer at least possibly into the fall!

WOW. I’ve been preparing for what seems like weeks in preparation for Thanksgiving weekend and the sales and show and still I feel totally behind. I’m so glad I took yesterday to get everything made but our turkey taking time to bake with my kids.
Today while we spent the holiday relaxed at home in our jammies watching movies and snuggling I had my macbook on my lap most of the day while I updated photos and added about 75 items to the etsy shop. I had wanted to finally finish getting all the items over here to the shop as well but after all day of editing this is about all I have left. Though I might sneak another piece of pecan pie but shhh don’t tell ok.
I’m not doing a huge Black Friday Sale because everything has been on sale for about a month now. I will however offer you my faithful readers a coupon code TURKEYHANGOVER for 13% off Lana Bella Etsy Shop thru Monday 11/29
As always if you want more than one of something CONVO me I’ll do my best to answer promptly but it will be a busy weekend!
If you are local don’t forget to come out to BAZAART and see the new wonders in person.
I think I’m going to skip that pie and head straight to bed!

“I haven’t had an orthodox career, and I’ve wanted more than anything to have your respect. The first time I didn’t feel it, but this time I feel it, and I can’t deny the fact that you like me, right now, you like me!” ~ Sally Field
Wow! I have been overwhelmed lately to say the lest. Things are flying off the shelves both at shows and on Etsy I’ve even had email/phone orders.
Thank you so much for all the support you have shown me this past year as my little business has EXPLODED to say the least. I’m making things as quickly as possible struggling at times to keep up with your demand. I have so many ideas of things I want to share and make for you all and hope to streamline some things to fit it all in.
From my family to yours we thank you.
Don’t forget until Thanksgiving eve the shop is on sale no discount codes or refunds needed.

HOLY WINDY BATMAN!!! I’m still sore from holding my tent down all day. I felt like i was positioned like a human version of monkey from the barrel holding onto the tent with one hand bagging, making change and assisting customers with the other. The highlights of my day were when nice customers would come in and make their partner or friend hold onto the tent so I could rest my arms. The people I encountered while holding on for dear life were great! I wish it hadn’t been so windy but at least it wasn’t cold as well.
I was looking forward to this show for quite some time to do some shopping of my own and had arranged some trades before hand and I’m so glad I did because with the wind there wasn’t really an opportunity to shop. There were so many vendors I wanted to check out with mother’s day being the next day and my birthday in only nine more days and I promise I’ve been a very good girl this year and am very deserving of little treasures.
Ever since I had gotten my book from Moonlight Bindery back as a holiday gift to myself I’ve wanted a second one. Well I couldn’t decide between my two choices so I got them both aren’t they beautiful!

Next up I wanted a wallet to go with the new purses I got off etsy a couple months ago. There I was one day killing time on twitter and along comes an etsy listing from See Katie Sew well I wanted one so a convo was made. I also treated myself to a little head band which I love! But the wallet was AWESOME for use at the Farmer’s market on sunday because I can use the key ring to hook it to the spot in my purse intended to hold keys so no worries about dropping it because its attached!

Last but not least I splurged on yet another little pouch (ask how my husband rolled his eyes at me when he saw) from fellow BEST member JennyJen42. I have no idea yet what purpose it will have but it is so cute I just needed it!

Ok there was one other purchase made but it wasn’t for me it was for a little girl’s upcoming 11th birthday however her pink loving little brother found it today as I was unpacking from the show and claimed it for himself. Meet Rory and Grace his newest friend from the celebrity in my children’s eyes Cutesy but not Cutesy

Enjoy!

Phew! Got that out of the way. I think the first show of a season is like that first pancake of the batch when you haven’t made pancakes in a while. It was a BEAUTIFUL day, so people of the neighborhood were out and walking around. It was so great to catch up with some people who remembered me from Merry Mart this past December. All in all a pretty good day, made better by some excellent trades with other vendors. The best part for me was using my banner for the very first time.

So did you read along with us last night? Our cookies got foiled by a nice long power outage so thats a bust another night tonight though.
In the second portion of the story The Bishop Nicholas we encounter a little girl who is the cause of her own loneliness. From her encounter with Nicholas we learn how we can be more like the Sun to give our love to others and fill their hearts with love. My children will wake the following morning to an orange to help them remember what it feels like to share good things with others. The orange tastes sweet like sunshine and love.
So be the sunshine and spread your love! One great way to do that would be to buy handmade and help the Maryland Foodbank.
